Electrochemical deposition of ZnO thin films in aprotic ionic liquids: Effect of the cationic alkyl-chain-length

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a semiconductor with various physicochemical properties allowing its use in wide range of technological applications. The aim this work to study nanocrystalline ZnO thin-film deposited using zinc salt which dissolved pure ionic liquids (ILs). latter play dual role: solvent and supporting electrolyte. Most ILs have large electrochemical window sufficient conductivity. In work, four hydrophobic ILs, based on 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazoliums bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide were synthetized characterized highlight the effect length cationic alkyl chain morphological, structural optical deposits. Grain growth arrangement are affected by cation that act as model agents during electroplating. produced thin layers also studied.
